Quick photography lesson

I have a Nikon because that's what Target was sellilng when I got the bug a few years ago and just had to have a DSLR today. Since then I have noticed that Nikon and Canon both take pictures that I think are equal. If I had to do it again I would get a Canon because the lenses are less expensive.

Nikkor Glass is some of the best optics you can buy. Good Canon glass can get up in price as well when you reach the L lenes. You get what you pay for. IMO buy a mid range Canon/Nikon body and spend the rest on good glass. But that is just me.

I agree 100%. I saw on a photography forum that the three most important items for a good shot are (in order):

1. The skill of the photographer
2. The lense
3. The camera body.

Yeah, I should have hung out in the room with Tomoko's DT and Rick instead of at the table eating and drinking coffee. I could have been picking Rick's brain.

Hello everyone; Here is a link to the photos we shot yesterday. I really enjoyed the afternoon and it was a real learning experience for me. I hadn't shot under the metal Halide lights and it has some challenges for sure. My website is going through a rework but the images can be seen here. I still need to do some photoshop work on them to make them a little prettier but I'm very pleased with what we shot. Tomoko's Reef - FineLightphoto

I think we had them at 70% on channel 1 and 50% on channel 2.

Look what you all will be missing. frogspawn.jpg

It kinda went overt my head to tell you the truth, lol. It's been awhile since I used my regular camera. I need to study more about my own camera and basic photography technique. It's just that iPhone is so easy to pull out and start shooting...

Yes, I always run blue higher. I am slowly acclimating my tank and currently they peak at 60 blue 30 white/full spectrum.

I will never get to 100 / 100 on my current tank, which is 29" deep, unless the LEDs began to fade as the fixture ages.

Lights just came on. I snapped this with my galaxy S4 phone. No settings just turn on and click. Not bad for a phone.

It's a vermitid. I would kill it. You can use super glue to seal the end of the tube up and it will die. Tomoko uses epoxy putty.

It's a vermitid snail. It should not bother your Euphillia, but it can irritate some acroporas with the web rubbing on it. It tends to multiply fast and can look ugly in your tank. I'd plug it up with two part epoxy or super glue gel to snuff it out.
