I have a 75gallon dedicated shroom tank. Tank is over 4 going on 5 years old. I was given a beautiful frag of a bright (toxic like) green nephea coral frag by a guy about a year or so ago. I didn't want it in my mixed reef and didn't want it in my nem tank so I thought I'd throw it in with the shrooms. Well over the last year the nephea has grown onto the rock and I enjoy it where is is and have decided to let it stay. Sometime during the year a harry mushroom split and ended up about 6" away from the nephea but on the back side of the rock. Now the mushroom is dang near touching it. I know that generally mushrooms are not an aggressive coral and other than growing over other coral they generally don't pose a problem. Should I be worried about the mushroom doing anything to the nephea in the stinging it department? If not, then will the mushroom just continue to grow around the base of the nephea but becasue the nephea is so tall is clearly couldn't smother it out, right? I am really just trying to figure out if the nephea will continue to thrive with the mushroom growing around it. I know that was probably a long way to ask that question. Generally, most people want more info than less.

I'd them just as they are until you actually see some damage on the base of your soft coral. My gguess is they'll get along fine though and your 'sroom will gradually suround it as it reproduces.

The short answer is that I don't know. I have several corals co-existing with my mushrooms right now including a zoa, fungia plate, stylocoeniella and cyphastrea. So far they all seem to be co-existing.
