So ive had my tank running since july 29th,2017, and ive always cleaned my tidal 110 filter out mechanically and the pump but only kinda tumbled my matrix bag a little to loosen detritus out of it, but lately ive noticed that the bag my matrix is in is looking pretty rough.....would it cause me any problems just to put my matrix rocks into a new bag? Or take the rocks out and clean the bag out in tank water and use the bag again? Thanks in advance!

I'm not sure what your concern is. Many people run media bags through the washing machine to clean them, just like filter socks.

If your worried just pick up a new bag and dump it into the new one... you can also get more matrix to add to the new bag just incase some of yours is in rough shape.

Im worried about the bag getting so clogged that the water flow doesnt get to it and the good bacteria ive had since the begining would die or it would be a small nitrate factory plus i didnt want to chance killibg a larhe number of bacteria but gotcha, ill switch it thanks

Ah, don't worry about the bacteria. You could rinse the media directly with cool tap water and not damage the good bacteria. They are resilient lil guys.

Yeah im so anal about my tank and especially the bacteria, ill prob just switch the bag haha dunno what id do with a crash, knock on wood

If you run "The Bag"???

Then try out the Red Sea 225 micron nylon mesh filter sock / and strap on "The Bag's" zip tie, to it.

well i just simply emptied the matrix rocks out of the bag that came with the tidal 110 of mine in tank water and just washed the bag out so it would be free of detritus and not so nasty and just replaced my matrix back in that bag lol thanks for all the comments really helpful!!
