hello everyone,

I'm purchasing a skimmer that I may have to move to the middle section of my three sectioned tank. My concern is putting the fuge in the inlet section of the sump. I could build a stand for the skimmer and put it in the first chamber, but simply putting the skimmer In the middle and the fuge in the inlet is the easiest way to go it seems. Thanks!

So here is my 0.02 cents on this. It is easier to put it where the fudge is, however, there are drawbacks...if you put macro in the fuge, it will most likely get sucked into the pump and you will have more issues....then there is the copopods and other tasty morsels that feed the tank without you knowing...they will be lost to the skimmer....if you tumble chaeto in your sump, you will reduce water flow and increase it around the skimmer changing the direction and tumbling effect you may already have in place...
reef octopus makes a skimmer stand you can buy ( relatively cheap compared to a skimmer at least) if you don't have time to make one. I would suggest trying to make it work on the inlet side of the sump IMO.

Also, if you move the fuge into the first s cation of the pump, things will be in a very turbulent spot no pods and the like usually don't do well there...they seem to prefer gentle flow to proliferate
