hey just bought a sweet baby kole tang today but my coral beauty angel is bullying it. It refuses to let it leave this one corner or itl chase it around the tank. I tried catching the angel but cant w/o having to tear down all my rock. My question is is it better to leave it in this little in tank qt where it currently is now or let it out and risk it dying or being stressed but letting it learn what to do at night time. You might think well thats easy just keep it in the qt but i dont really plan on getting rid of the angel unless i have to. just my thoughts. i would appreciate any thoughts soon before i have to choose myself. thanks.

Move some rock work around if u can. I had
a really aggressive clown and I moved some of the stuff around on my sand bed to break up territory and she quit.

I would try putting him in the tank after the lights go off to give the kole tang time to relax and get use to it surrounding.

They make fish traps that work really well, chances are if you have a local club that someone in it has one. I would try to borrow or buy one and get rid of the Angel, in the mean time keep the Tang in the QT. The Angel will most likely be a problem with future fish too.

+1. If you can't part with the angel and your QT seems too small, I would seperate the tang and angel with a piece of plexi glass. This has worked well when I had no QT and needed fish to get along in the past. After a week, they have kinda got use to seeing each other and the plexi can be taken out. All I did was seperate a 1/4 of the DT, drill nice holes throughout the plexi for flow, and let it all settle down. This also helps the tang control his own area. GL

From my experience, I have a coral beauty angel who thought it was the boss of everyone. When it would get nasty to a new fish it would typically last about two days max, then it would ease up. Also, it isn't persistent bullying like a sixline trying to kill an intruding wrasse, that was the worst I had ever seen. So you might be able to put the kole in at night and let him and the angel duke it out for a while...maybe they will eventually get along. My coral beauty and yellow fought a lot at first but now they are best buddies schooling around together everywhere, grazing on rocks together, I think they may be a bi-species couple.
