Hello folks, Did a water change in the tanks today, early am with coffee in hand.:) Turn on room lights and see a snail on the glass, high tailing it to the backside bottom of the tank. I turn on the tank light and check out the snail right before its out of view. It had 8 antenna or feelers on the back side. 4 on each side. Much more delicate than the front 2. Any idea what type of snail? Sorry no pics of it.

Going to need an image next time you see it. Good images of Stomatella and see if that matches what you saw. Chiton could be another option.

Moved to Hitchhiker and Critter ID forum. :-)

Googled it like suggested,nope not a stomella or a chiton. Rear feelers were thin hair like. It had a shell like a Astrea or Trochus, take that with a BLOCK of salt. It had a pyramid/cone shell.No additions to tank for maybe a yr.

White-off white.Rear feelers were thin hair like. It had 4 fine hair like feeler on each side toward the back hald of the body.It had a shell shape and size like a Astrea or Trochus, take that with a BLOCK of salt. It had a pyramid/cone shell. Do Astea or Trochus have hairy feelers?

Oh, forgot to put down that I went to lionfishlair and checked out EVERY snail link.

Think I saw one of those in a coral tank at a LFS over the weekend.

Very "turbo-like" shell - and snail, but with long, fine tendrils seeming to come from underneath it, 'round the foot. Little bit bigger than I'd expect for a collonista.

~Bruce, who doesn't know what it was . . . but knows you're not losing your mind!

Bahaha I always love your sign-offs, Bruce.

Thx for getting my back Bruce. Ive been looking and keeping an eye on things. Haven't seen it again.

Any way you can get him out and take a pic of the underside? I haven't the faintest idea what it is but I'm certainly intrigued!
@Lionfish Lair

The next time I see it,I'll try to stick it to the glass. But, the bottom looks like any other "normal"snail with whiskers on the back half.

The little feelers are sensory tentacles. If it's not from the trochus genus, it's from the Trochidae subfamily.

Yes, they are feelers. I used to have that but the shell just a bit different.
The feelers are extended when they are comfortable with the surrounding, but as in my case, when my butterflyfish started to nip at them, they roamed without the tentacles extended. Good algae eaters but died when i use paraguard
