Hey guys And gals. I recently picked up an osmolator for ato and had a quick question. While it maintains the water level perfectly and I am very happy with it, I have noticed that it seems to come one very frequently.

My wife mentioned that she keeps hearing it come on excessively throughout the day and I noticed last night is was coming on about every 3 minutes. Is this normal? Like I said it is maintaining the proper level but it just seems odd to me.

Thanks:squigglemouth:

Every 3 minutes seems like a bit much, but it really depends on how quickly your water level is dropping. Also, make sure the water around the sensor is calm. Splashing, waves, etc can cause issues.

Not sure about the Osmolator but with my Spectrapure UPLC-II, I can adjust the level it drops anywhere between 1/10" and 4" so it does not cycle frequently. I would think the Osmolator has something similar as they use similar sensors?

Where would you make those adjustments? I dont really see anything to adjust

I am only topping off about 1/2 gallon daily. 3 minutes sounds excessive to me to but thats what its doing. The water around the sensor is dead still. I dont remember it doing this when I first set it up so maybe it can be adjusted. I have the blue wire attached to the connector that has the black wire with white dots and the brown wire connected to the solid black one if this makes any difference

The system is also reading too high on the water level but still seems to be going off regardless but as I mentioned the water level is perfect

My mistake, I just noticed that the light specifies the level is correct and never states too high

The volume isn't really the determining factor alone. The volume plus the size of the return section of the sump is what matters. Think of it this way... evaporating 1/2g in a 24" x 24" area will barely be noticeable. Evaporating 1/2g in a 5" x 5" area will show a significant drop in the water level...

You are right but I don't remember it being so constant when I first set it up

Well, since you can't ID anything wrong with it, and it's keeping your water level perfect, I'm going to have to say your memory is the problem in this situation

Lol. I wish that was the case but my wife is bringing it up to me as well. My only real concern is the pump

Something that happened to me, maybe you have the same issue. For the longest time I had the pump line placed so that the water entering the sump ran down the side of the phosban reactor. No sound. Then, when I moved the reactor to a different location, it sounded like someone peeing in my sump. And it seemed extremely frequent. Nothing changed, other than being able to hear the water streaming into the sump.

In my case its just a little bit of water just a lot of times. Once every 3 minutes or so ( I might try switching the cables just in case)

Just to let everyone know. I have raised the inlet tube out of the water. It is now attached to the highest peak and has eliminated the frequent start ups
