I do water changes through the sump.
I have a method that I use for I don't know how many years.
Always have done small water changes through out the week.
Mondays and Fridays and on both days 8% of the total water volume of my DT tank.
I'll take water out the sump just enough that the return pump doesn't suck air and replace with equal amount, about 4 gallons.
Than I clean glass and skimmer cup and 10 min I'll do it again.
I never turn the system off either on water changes or feedings.

Do you use a pump to take the water out? Or just siphon it?

Cool, that's how i use to do it. Then someone told me i should do it the other way.

There is really not a set way to do a water change as long you do your water changes on regular schedules.
