Quick question

Just bought a handful of cheato from lfs in Dallas. I live 3 hours away and won't be home until tomorrow evening. They said I can throw it in the fridge overnight but no more than a night. Is this true? Was only 7 bucks so worst case is I have $7 worth of pods when I get home. Thanks
