I purchased a "named" Zoa frag from an online dealer a couple of weeks ago. There are 2 adult polyps and 1 baby. One of the adult polyps has never fully opened and now the stem appears to be turning dark. The adjoining adult polyp looks fine and has a nice "clean" stem. Should I go ahead and frag off the troubled looking polyp? I will have to cut / seperate it from the adjoining good polyp. Advice?

Well I went ahead and fragged off the questionable polyp. I attached it to a small piece of rubble just in case it decides to start thriving.

Good thinking Darren. It is always safer to cut something that looks bad than to try and wait it out. Plus, now you have two frags of it.

Sorry for not replying before you cut it.

try putting the other one in good flow. if you have furan2 or lugols dip it and put in a OT

Hey folks what is furan2 and where do you get it? Thanks.

It is a bacterial treatment for fish but has show to help with zoas/palys as well.

Here is a "how to" on Zoaid for treating zoa-pox. I think msman was suggesting it as a precaution, and not that your zoas have pox.

Forgot to add that you can get it at your LFS or online. Not a very hard thing to find. Try calling your LFS and asking if they have Furan 2 and it will be located near the fish medications.

Hope this helps.
