I got a bunch of horrible smelling live rock when I bought a used tank. Everything was covered in all kinds of algae and god knows what else. I piled it up in two 5 gallon buckets, top it off with water (maybe 3.5g) and added a pint of bleach to each. I'm assuming that the bleach will kill any algae and hitch hikers within a matter of minutes. I plan to leave it overnight, then rinse and soak with like 100x prime for another day. Should I be safe from contaminates after that? I'm going to let it dry outside for a few days at the end of the process as well just to be extra careful about the bleach. Also, should I run the tank with bleach inside or just scrub it and rinse?

From my understanding the bleach to water ratio should be 1 gallon of bleach to 10 gallons of water.
From what I've read, that's to dissolve all organic compounds (ie "cure" the rock). I just want to know if a one day soak in a pint of bleach will kill any hitchhikers.
