Got a question and hopefully I can pull some wisdom out of you

Can Quinine Sulfate and Chloroquine Phosphate be used together and would it have any detrimental effect on fishes (Tangs/Angels)?

I've never mixed them, and also see no reason to since they are both antiparasitics. CP treats the same diseases QS does, but is considerably less harsh on the fish IME.

@Humblefish the reason why I want to combine is because I may have a strain of ick that has become resistant to CP. That or I got a bad batch of CP.

So do you think I should try CP alone again?

Is this a fish you could use copper on? IME; copper is actually less harsh than QS, unless treating a copper intolerant species (e.g. dragonet).

tangs and angels are fine but anthias will not survive even few hours in CP.

I would go the copper route. Raise it slow because of the angels.

Unfortunately, I think I misdiagnose. I believe I had velvet instead of ich/ick and the CP level I had was not high enough to combat it.

The tank was originally infected with ick and CP (ick shield) worked and cleared it up. I had the dosage at 40mg/liter. After a week or two, with no reoccurance, my fishes were covered in white spots/dust like cob web thing. Assuming it was still Ick, I kept CP at 40mg. From when I posted on this thread to today, all fishes are dead (total of 75ish).

@Humblefish I just want to confirm with you, Ick are usually few in numbers and normally doesn't cover a fish while Velvet creates a cob web look with uncountable amount of white spots?

Sounds like Brook to me if there is "cob web" look of the skin. Acriflavine or formalin would be the treatment there.

If you can count the white dots its usually ich. If they are too numerous to count there's a good chance you are dealing with velvet.

However, “cob web look” doesn’t really sound like either, and as mentioned above could be brook.
