Today makes my tank 200% better.

it all began when i ordered a fluval 406 for a reef tank. I know canisters arent ideal for them, but thats what i could afford. when i recieved it, it did not run well so i returned it. I got my refund and ordered a eheim 2217. Today i recieved it and it came cracked. I took that as a sign that maybe i shouldnt use these filters for my tank.

As soon as my refund comes in, i am making my sump/fuge. But i need help. How do i go on about doing this without drilling holes. I know i need an overflow, but how do i do it? What is ideal for me?

Ive got a 65G tank, 36x18x24

i plan on getting this sump/fuge

Currently use this sump and love it. Works great :)
Eshopps makes a hang on back overflow. I used one for 2 years with no issues

If budget was the problem to begin with, then you might consider doing a plain tank (20 Long or 30 Long, for example) for your sump. Add return, add skimmer, add drain box, add drain and return plumbing and an ATO. You can buy used. Buying new that seems to add to about $200+50+350+70+50+ATO. Even without putting a price on the ATO you're >$700.

For about $600 you could instead go with the simplicity of a Tunze Reefpack 500.....filter, skimmer and ATO in one pack. Made for internal installation – magnetically mounted.

Simpler. Very slick. Maybe cheaper too, depending on what else you're looking at.

Buying a used sump tank and other used gear will be a lot cheaper, as long as you're up for the shopping and the DIY. Also a great choice.
