Quoyi parrotfish

I’ve had one for more than 6 months. Eats everything I feed. Best fish for getting rid of algae. Mine picks on coraline algae. He is is 7 inches. One of my best addition to my tank. A beautiful and model citizen. You will definitely enjoy it.

Eats anything.....mysis,pellets,flakes, even my finger

Thats the stuff. Works great in Ehiem Feeders too for auto dispensing. Batteries last a long time.

I haven't seen anyone mention the element that parrotfish do have a lot of waste/excrement given the constantly eating/grazing nature. They are indeed beautiful and in some/many instances reef friendly - assuming they are well fed.
I would just do my homework (and you may absolutely have already done everything I certainly don't know) on making sure your water change plans and skimmer are up to the inevitable bioload a large parrot will bring. Ideally he is going to get very large and will only eat/waste more. It may be worth oversizing a skimmer early on so you aren't having to play catch up with levels later.
For what that is worth. Enjoy that beauty....

When you use an auto feeder like this, how do you stop the food from just being sucked into the overflows?

Thanks. I do have a well oversized skimmer and I actually sold three fish to lighten my bioload for when the parrot fish came. The grazing is one thing I was trying to figure out how to manage. I have almost no algae on the rocks that I see so I was worried about that.

Yeah this was a big bummer for a loss. The owner of the company called me directly and was great. As soon as he gets another in it will be coming my way.
