Thanks! It was a long wait.

The tank is closed in what concerns corals and I am trying to find the last few fish species and then it will complete.

I had a problem with magnesium because of a bad bucket of Aquaforest salt. It killed the snails and I think it also possibly killed the female flame angel on the day of the move.

The thing is, as cute as they are, if I manage to find more in the tank (they will be either near the top of the tank or in the BTA's) and put them in there, they will kill them.

I had some problems getting some fish through quarentine, but now I have these guys in the fuge.


The female is so small that I don't dare to put her in the tank.

Here's a rambling about the corals in the tank.

Yesterday I added 5 fish:

- 1 small flame angel
- 2 adult heraldi angels
- 1 yellow assessor
- 1 wheeleri goby


Right now the tank is surprisingly peaceful and the tank is now closed both for corals and fish.

- 3 Ocellaris clownfish
- 2 Banggai cardinals (+ 4 babies in the sump)
- 3 Threadfin cardinals (1 female and 2 males)
- 2 Marine bettas (1 argus male and 1 altivelis female)
- 2 Heraldi dward angels
- 2 Flame dwarf angels
- 2 Flame hawkfish
- 2 Diamond gobies
- 2 Wheeleri gobies
- 2 Red bandtail waspfish (still gaining some size in the refugium)
- 1 Matted filefish

I already moved the trachy to the refugium with the anemones and the waspfish. I am scared of putting my hand in now because they are already swimming to the feeding pipette.

It's a good thing that I have reef lighting in the refugium instead of grow lights.

I pick music from stuff I recorded 30 years ago to avoid copyright problems.

Tomorrow I will leave the camera filming the clams. I really need to watch these angels. It was only one of them nipping the trachy.

I was scrapping the algae off the glass and I accidently knocked the magnifica pillar, but I managed to catch it.

I tried to put it back where it was but I couldn't balance it.

30 minutes later and the tank had suffered a minor rescape.

The angels had beed bickering over places to sleep and I took the opportunity to create a couple of small caves. It solved the problem.

My tank is based around kalk dosing and it takes almost 5 litres of saturated kalk per day. It isn't enough so I was complementing with soda bicarbonate dosing (100ml/day).

I stopped the soda bicarbonate and kept the kalk and I got a calcium reactor a couple of weeks ago and I have been trying to regulate it. I have no pH control.

I started with 1 bubble/minute and 40 ml/minute of effluent and it was too much.

The first problem I had was gas accumulation, I had to purge the reactor 2 or 3 times per day.

The 2nd problem was maintaining a steady effluent because it's gravity fed and the valve at the end of effluent is not very reliable.

So I removed the valve and let the effluent run free at a whopping 225ml/minute. CO2 is set to 30 bubbles per minute.

The alk has been balanced for a few days like this.

Question is: is the CO2 even doing anything?

It is.

I turned the CO2 back on today because alk has fallen 1 dKH in 24 hours. Even with 225ml/min of effluent and just 30 bubbles/min of CO2, the media is dissolving and supplying the tank 1 dKH per day.
