Hi guys.
I wanted to start a R.I.P. thread due to my recent losses. over a month ago I decided to finally hook up my BRS dual media reactor using GFO and carbon. long story short, things didn't work out in the worst way. lost almost all my chalices, acans and 2 beautiful showpiece multicolored japanese type trachys......... ...you were all great children!!!!:cry::cry: MOURN FELLOW REEFERS OVER YOUR LOSSES, POST UP OBITUARIES.....

RIP beautiful corals. I'm so sorry to hear that you lost so much. May I ask what exactly happened so that others, myself included, may possibly learn from your experience and perhaps avoid such tragedy?

Thank you for your condolences....I did everything as was directed. rinse out GFO and carbon to make sure all dust/tiny particles were out, I used 1/3 of what was recommended by BRS, hooked up the reactor and adjusted the flow correctly. in 2 weeks things went downhill PLUS some of my SPS did STN too base up. Disclaimer: THIS IS NO WAY BRS'S FAULT, THEY MAKE AWESOME PRODUCTS AND I WILL USE THE REACTOR WITH CARBON AND MAYBE ROWAPHOS. My tank just didn't like GFO. I heard others with success and others with the same outcome as me.

Sorry for your losses its heartbreaking I know.we lost everything in our 220 about a year ago

Would you like a hug? Sucks when your prized possessions die :(, even more when it's through fault of your own. RIP 120g:banghead:

Lessons learned, glass will not stop a falling sump light. An improperly setup GFCI doesn't work. Unplugging lights BEFORE sticking your hands in to retrieve said fallen lights. :banghead:

Never even got an ID

Ouch! I feel your pain. A few months ago I lost almost all my chalices, acans, favias, zoas, I even lost a leather, lol. Come to find out the wife was way over feeding. She said but fish always looked hungry, lol. To name a few chalices ironman, pink *******, SC pink fame, bazooka Joe, tyree pink watermelon, OG mummy eye along with others that I don't remember the or weren't named and a pretty healthy acan collection. I'll try to dig up some pics later.

Sorry for your losses guys. I am losing some SPS now due to fuzzy mushrooms, also lost a mummy eye chalice:cry:. I cant seem to get rid of them. I started with one and its spread like xenia. :banghead: Anyways, Sorry for your losses guys I feel your pain too.

Sorry to hear about your loss. It sucks when you lose your favorite piece much less quite a few of them. Don't give up on the hobby though! Hopefully some local reefers to you will donate some nice pieces to you! :)

THANKS GUYS and sorry for your losses too. LOL this is such a crazy hobby. (lucky my wife thinks almost EVERYTHING i get is thru trading ). For me it was losing my 2 showpiece trachys. I waited over a year before I found 2 unbelieveable ones (and 2 at the same time for an unbelieveable deal!!!) they looked AWESOME in the tank and was fat and eating like piggies......

I haven't lost any corals in a long time, but with two seperate week long power outtages this fall, I lost the majority of my fish. The worst part is that the second outtage came just after I had finished restocking. Here's a few that are no longer with me. R.I.P.
