Hello! I just set up my 75 gallon aquarium using RODI system from Auatic Life. I bought the 4 stage system w/the deinized resin chamber. On the website it says the resin chamber would change colors to Amber when it needs changing. Well, after running around 80 gallons through it, the resin chamber turned Amber. Is this normal for a RODI resin chamber? The replacements cost around $20. I find it hard to believe it needs changing after only 80 gallons. However, could this be normal?

I apologize if this is in the wrong section.

You need to check it with a tds meter. Need to check the tds after ro membrain and then after di chamber

You need a tds meter after r/o membrane and after DI also. Befor R/O would be nice too. That will give you some answers you need. Example. My water is 660 tds before r/o. After r/o it is 7. After di it is 0 which is what you want. As di starts getting used up you will see tds creep up. Well or city water?

City water. I don't have a tds tester. I was thinking I would get way way more rodi water than 80 gallons before I'd need to change cartridges.

Mine changes color and still shows zero tds. So I keep using it. I just check it before each use after the color changes. It dose seem odd that it changed color so fast maybe there is somthing in the watter

I think it is odd as well. I'll look into the tds tester, but if it is changing this quickly, I might as well just have water delivered to my house. Much cheaper this way vs. replacing the cartridge every 80 gallons. I'd need to shop at Costco and get these things wholesale if that's the case.

You need a tds meter to see where you are at. You could have issues that can be resolved easily or you may not have an issue. But right now without it you are blind. I,like the inline meters because you can monitor while the water is flowing thru canisters.

Hmm I'll look into one. How would I solve those issues though? I also spoke to my neighbors that measure water quality and they tested between 600-800 ppm. I know that is high, but, I doubt it would cause my resin canister to go bad at 80 gallons. That just seems off.

Just a thought is the di resin the last stage the water is going through? If it's not that would explain why it is being depleted so quickly

Yes, it is the last stage the water goes through.
