I’m currently using a r/o unit to make my water and my tds are at 6. What is the difference between a r/o and a r/o-d/i unit?

ro/di should produce water with close to zero tds/undetectable levels.

Ro/di water will give you 0 TDS. The DI = De-ionized
You can add a DI stage to most RO systems.
I personally would not be putting 6 TDS in my tank as lord only knows what the remaining 6 TDS is.

Thanks for the info. Are all d/I units the same or are some better than others?

Anytime! Glad I was able to help.

Be sure to T off your RO water so you can still make RO for drinking and RODI for your tank. 0 TDS water doesn't taste very good and some people say it is unhealthy for you (not sure about that).
