R2R needs to think big, like AAA roadside assistance big. What do I mean by this? I see, to increase supporting membership ($25). R2R needs some type discount offers from advertiser and sponsors that have a product to provide to R2R members , like 10% discount for member support($25), discount increases as the member contributes more to R2R, like secret santa etc...

What do you guys think?

Here's how big R2R can be, 7.5 billion population as of 2017. You have 25% of the population that don't need your product. You have another 25% who can afford you. Another 25% that can't okay buying your product. Your left with 25% of the population waiting for R2R. That means BILLIONS in profits, that's BILLIONS!!!!

And that's only in memberships, we haven't touched advertising

If we are talking about a true platform play with network and aggregator effect in play, then both sides of the network have to benefit from this concept. I am not sure what advertisers and merchants would get out of this proposed scenario that they are not already getting? What am I missing?

Kinda like a union, R2R would be representing it's members, now we're talking millions of paid and non paying members.
Discounts may apply to new advertisers and sponsors with services or products.

While I don't think the loyalty aspect getting pull from the vendors is a bad idea necessarily, I just do not think there are enough reefers (let alone members of R2R) to have enough pull for this sort of system.

The vendors are already paying 'their debts' if you will to R2R by paying for an ad slot. Asking them to provide deep discounts on top of that is no benefit to them in my personal opinion. Then you add in the complexity of a multi-tiered discount that the vendors have to factor in, I just don't see it working.

All of this to say- You could be 100% right here, and I could be completely wrong. These are just the flaws I see in the system.

R2R is the Facebook of reef keeping, maybe one day we'll see it implemented.
Hmmm, maybe I didn't quite realize the influence of this forum. Right or wrong....I would love discounts though.... that is for sure!

Having worked for a big gaming forum I know first hand that the hosting charge per month for the amount of traffic that is generated here could run in the 1000's of dollars and that's every month. The relationship between sponsors and R2R owners is like a clownfish and a nem very symbiotic..they need each other to keep the ships afloat. Your AAA analogy is not a good one...nor is your business plan but that's just my 2 cents.

When we go into Homedepot or Lowes and you see those trying to sell their products like Solar, HVAC,etc... Homedepot ask that company(trying to sell in store) if they can employ at least 1 homedepot employees per store to help sell. If you notice when you ask them a technical question they can't answer the questions. I know this because we've dealt with them on sell in store.

Point is, we get an idea how different companies try to use their leverage to their benefit

Thanks for your input, we can dream right?
