5. Quarantine your fish!

6. Ask for advice

7. GFCI on anything around anything wet

Biggest rule:

Learn how to identify fads and herd mentality, it plagues this hobby. When I was new it was so confusing seeing completely contradicting statements on forums.

First it was ULNS the only way to grow SPS, then it became SPS need nutrients

Dry marco rocks and aquascaping or nothing at all, then it became "you can't grow SPS with dry rock"

Deep sandbeds are needed, then it became no sand, now it's remote refugium...

T5 can't grow SPS buy LED...then it turned out LED wasn't as good alone, shifted to hybrid...

At the end of the day, I need to see people's tanks. That's my rule...don't care what science background you have I need to see your tank.
