Has anyone out there tried this? I am building a new system. I'm doing some things first (generator, basement door) but as I think, I want to used my heating system for my house to indirectly heat the water. (I am a plumber) my water volume will be around 1000 gallons and I want a better way to keep the water warm. After initial time to warm up I don't think I will have much trouble. The systems are under ground relatively stable temp year round. Just wondering if any of you have seen this done. I can't come up with any good reasons it won't work.

My only issue with that is if by chance the water eats through any part of that heat exchanger you have very bad water that will most likely wipe your tank. I'm thinking of using a coil of inert pex inside another one for safety. Cross contamination can't be possible.

Thanks I still haven't gotten the hang of forums. Now I didn't notice a date. Was that recent, or back in 2015. If it was back then, have you since tried your way of running a partial Triton?
And I don't mean to keep bothering you. It's just I can build anything, wire anything, I'm just not very book smart. All the elements baffle me so maybe I should just stick to their method. My setup is more industrial looking than clean. I love the fact of a giant algae machine. My macro algaes are one of my favorite parts of my current system

Each post has a date above it. Mine was from a few days ago. There are a lot of good methods to try, and perhaps one simpler that Triton would be easiest for you.

If I ever went with a bigger tank again, I’d add a zone to my boiler and heat with pex tubing in a heartbeat. I had a controller on my last tank of 200 gals. No reason the controller can’t be wired to a relay and turn ona circ pump as needed.
Also the fact that you boiler runs around 180 degrees and you only need I would estimate not more that 100 degree water and my boiler is 96% efficient I think I would be awesome. Right now I'm running 2500 watts 24\7 and my system is 300 gallons. 1000 gallons would be a lot of electricity to heat.
