Hello All,

I'm curious to know whether a Radion G2 could cover a 36 x 24 foot print, if hung high enough? I'm just beginning my build and I plan on stocking SPS. Oh and the water level will only be 17" deep.

They say 2x2. I bet with the G2 and the TIR lenses you'd be fine. I'd start with one, and don't place alot on the sides. Worst case you add a second down the road.

You would definitely have to raise it up a ways, but it could work. You might have to keep your SPS toward the center; there probably won't be a lot of light on the edges.

How high do you think I could hang the unit before I need to start worrying about PAR being effected?

Most people who are running Radions aren't running them at full intensity, so with just 17" you would probably be able to increase power a little to get the PAR back. The challenge will be to do this without cooking what's directly underneath.

What's interesting is that the first generation Radions were advertised to cover 24x24. The new TIR lenses really increase the spread, but they haven't changed the recommended coverage. Visual comparison between the two:

Wow, the G2 has twice the spread. I wonder how big the board is? Using the screwdriver as a scale, I'd say 20" wide.
