Are there any negatives or Pros to Disabling Fan Shutdown? Is it better or risky for the fixture or specific components? Better to run always on( never an off cycle ) ? Or a repeating On/Off cycle based on temperature.
Been having issues with now 2 of 3 fixtures. Ecotech Marine customer service has been amazing! The issue are being resolved so that is good.
Just really after establishing a root cause and possible remedies.

I run my enabled. Allow it to turn on when needed based on temp. Don’t see any reason to run it constantly. My electric bill is big enough.

The reason to run constantly might be better for the fans. Not having on off cycle repeating multiple times a day. some things are designed one way or the other. (Apex outlets for one example) Plus there has to be a reason to even have this Advanced option.

Yeah I have a reef tank. I'm not going to worry about the impact running these 3 little fans is going to do to my electric bill.

Id imagine any moving parts will wear down quicker when used constantly - Id say thats the only real negative to running the fan all of the time.

Any electronics that produce heat will benefit from being coooled down though, so cooling them constantly will likely be a positive in that aspect, especially for the board and diodes.

Being that they are pretty much computer fans they are probably designed to be switched on and off over multiple periods anyway. Plenty of PC fans do this based on temp and have done for years rahter than constant.

Still........I dont really see the point in running the fan constantly. The device is programmed to turn the fan on when the temperature of the unit hits a set point i believe so i just trust Ecotech to do their thing. I dont think ive actually ever heard mine come on come to think of it - XR15 gen 5's
