Curious to hear any initial reactions from folks who have upgraded to G5 from G4 Pro (not Gen3, Gen2 or anything else please). I need another light; had originally thought that I would find either a discontinued retail G4Pro or a lightly used unit. New units are almost all sold out and sellers of lightly used are asking silly prices (considering the warranty does not transfer) so I'm now thinking I may have to go G5.

Personally , the more I look at my G5s there's only a few things I like better than the G4s.
Slightly better coverage with the new diode layout.
New housing which has better moisture resistance compared to the G4s.
The wireless option...when Mobius will cooperate.

Things I don't like about the G5 Blue version.
Light output appears too white with the AB+ templat with all channels at 100%
Fan is noisy when unit is ran at 60-65% overall intensity. Much louder than the G4s ran at 100% The G5s do have some controllability of the fan but who's to say that wont have an impact on the life of the unit.

My G5s are ran side by side with G4s using diffusers. The output is very similar coming from the G5s. Possibly due to the frosted LEDs. I understand I'd lose PAR with diffusers but since there is an increase in the number of the LED diodes the G5's are blinding when suspended above eye level. My G5s will be getting the diffusers once released by Ecotech.

Until I get a par meter in hand to tell a difference in par and spread I'm on the fence about the G5s. Most likely they will grow on me over time.

I mentioned to you in another post I believe there is only a couple vendors out there with any G4 XR30 Pros in stock. XR15s are gone and the no pro XR30s are still to pricey IMO.

These guys still have some G4 XR30 Pros in stock with Diffusers.
