I have a pair of gen 2 radions (upgraded to gen 3 pro) that I'd like to control with my apex. These lights have the common beeping/color change issues of the early lights though. They work fine if I disable the buttons in ecosmart live, but then they are no longer connected to the WXM.

When connecting to the WXM, one step is to reset the lights. I believe this restores the button function, so I'm then stuck back where I started. I'm about to take the lights apart to swap lenses (too high for the wides in there now). While in there, is there any reason to not physically disconnect the buttons? I have no use for them, and I'm not worried about being able to complete task. My only concern would be a side effect of doing this. Anyone have any experience? thanks!

I have no experience with the Gen2->3 upgrades, but I'm not sure that physically disconnecting the buttons will have the same effect as turning them off in the software... It may very well do the same thing, but often the hardware follows what the software says to do; not the other way around. Disconnecting them may just prevent a signal from going anywhere, but not actually stop the signal being sent. Depending upon the nature of the problem (again; which I know practically nothing about), the signal itself may or may not matter...

You might want to try reaching out to [email protected] with your question.

Thanks for the response. I went ahead and unplugged the buttons during a lens swap a couple of hours ago. Everything seems to be working perfectly so far.
