I have an opportunity to purchase two Radion gen 3’s for under $650 shipped. Should a grab this deal or continue to save for the Gen 5. I currently have two current marine loop pros and they are not getting the job done.

That’s over priced in my opinion. Are they xr15 or xr30’s? Include mounts and reeflink? For a little more you can get a good set of G4’s

XR 30s non pros without the mounts or reef link

Perfect I will definitely check them out are they pricey?
Not really for quality leds. 1 bar equals 2 T5's.
I got the OR3 120 for $150 on black friday sale.
Normally $190.
If I was to switch to led on my 120 I could run 3, 4 would be better, and grow anything.
You know what the new radions cost.
My led friends like them better than the Atlantic v4 from Orphek.

Definitely seems high. I just upgraded from Gen3 XR30 Pro’s to Gen5 lights and I sold my three Gen 3 Pros as a set for $960 shipped, so essentially $320 each.

As far as Gen3 vs Gen5, I believe that the Gen5 lights are a pretty significant improvement over the Gen3 lights. Enough of an improvement that I decided to upgrade. (Although it did help that I won one of my Gen5 lights). But I rented a par meter for the switch and I was amazed at how much more even the light spread was with the Gen5 lights and how much deeper the light penetrated.

The Gen3s are great lights... I used them over my tank for years and had some great coral growth and coloration. If you are looking for a less expensive option then I would absolutely recommend them. However, do know that the Gen5 lights are a significant improvement in terms of spread and penetration, so if those things are important to you then it might be worth spending a bit more to go with Gen5.

New Radions are about $850.00 without the mounting hardware or reef link. I bet I can get better bang for my buck the the Orphek

$325 each would be fine if they had the mounts. Its high without them.

I paid $350 for my G3 Xr30 with a mount, and $450 for my G4 Xr30 with a mount.
Thank you for the input. I thought they were a little high. I would really like to find a light that would cover the whole 60” of my tank
