I am upgrading tanks soon and was thinking of doing the gen 3 radion but I want to know what some other people have experienced with them. Has anybody had them long enough to see anything?

The Gen 3 is the old pro, only in some kind of new housing.
The Pro 3 is just a much stronger light than the Pro now.
I think you'll love the Gen 3.

Tagging along on this one. Gen 3s are shipping. Someone who got one in needs to pony up and review. We are impatiently waiting. :)

I know the gen 3 has the fan actually built into the housing instead of being separate. We have a few in stock at my job but we haven't opened one yet.

Gen 3 cluster and output are not the same as Gen 2 Pro. In a basic sense, G3 has 38 LED's vs the G2Pro's 42 (same as G3Pro).

I mounted mines to my canopy using 10/32 x 4 screws. Just screwed them into the 4 mounting holes on the corners. Well that's on my Gen 2

My buddy Scott just got two of them and he's very disappointed....just sent them back today. Not much difference from gen 2 pro, different housing and a fan. Man, was he cursing up a storm, yikes! Told him just relax, lol.

what intensity are you running them at? and what lights were you using before you got them? did you put them through an acclimation mode?

Message from Ecotech to me on my upgrade question,
"The difference between the old pro and the G3 pro is mostly efficiency and intensity. That being said, I don’t think your reef is lacking for any intensity at the moment. As for coral growth, your current Pro units are completely sufficient."

So I passed on the upgrade as Ecotech already does a lot for me and what still to come this year.

One thing I noticed when looking at the specs, is the gen3 and gen 3 pro have all the same colored leds, except the gen 3 pro has a couple yellow leds and has about 200 more par.

I just got a Gen 3 pro yesterday for my new build, I have it hanging over my 20 gal for now and it's pretty sweet! And I'm just using the preset settings as of now until my reeflink gets here(don't have a computer atm) But i will update if I notice any changes in my sps.

I'll let you know how the reef link is. We have one set up at my job with 17 radions. I like it but at the same time it does show which light has a problem. If one is messed up like software wise or anything then the others will be thrown off. But we have 2 set up over a freshwater planted system and 15 over saltwater systems. I work for one of the ecotech suppliers so We get the new stuff from them first.

The gen2 didnt have yellow or uv that i recall. Its the biggest reason i went with the new pro.
