OK so I have the Aquasys 434 5x2x2 tank and am looking at lighting options. I am completely new to marine and coral so will be starting out with softies and lps on the easy scale. Will maybe move to sps if I have success. I have narrowed it down to either the evergrow it5012 OR 2x radion xr15 G5 (will upgrade to 3 when moving to sps).......thoughts?

Are you looking at the 4' Evergrow fixture?

In the US we have Reef Breeders which is the sole distributor for Evergrow and their Photon is a very slightly different array of leds, but essentially the same light as Evergrow.

So what is the cost difference between the end result of buying the Evergrow vs the 3 Radions?

I use the Reef Breeder Photons and the actual light you get from either of these fixtures is virtually the same. The ability to control the light, sunrise/sunset and 6 channels of color control, is also virtually the same. IMHO the Evergrow fixture is better looking. And I know from personal experience it's dead quiet and very well made.

So what's the cost difference?

It would be the 4ft fitting that costs around £550 complete with bracket etc

The radions are £450 each with bracket.

So it's 550 vs 450 + 450 = 900 just to get started. And then 900 + 450 = 1350 later on.

I'd be all for saving 800 for use on other stuff!
