I haven't purchased one yet but I plan on getting this for a JBJ 45 Gallon (26.5" x 21" x 19") and I'm worried about light spillage.

At 9" above the tank, that would put the light 11" above my water. I'm wondering if anyone has or has thought about a DIY fix for lowering their lights.

I was thinking I could cut 2" long thin (.5" or so) hollow tubes and run longer screws through them on the 4 corners to make "posts" that would lower the light by 2".

Thoughts? Anyone experience light spillage on a tank with a front to back depth of 21"?

Pardon the crude drawing but here is a rough sketch of what I'm thinking...

I have a XR30 Pro over my IM20 with the 120 degree lenses and I love it. Spillage is not bad at all even with the 120s. Makes a very nice, clean setup for your lights. Good coverage. JME

I wouldn't worry about light spill.
With LED, the higher the better for more even spread and coverage.
Going too low and you'll be burning coral at the top center and won't have enough light hitting other parts of the tank.

That's why I went with the 120s to spread the light out.

Meh. 120's are required imo. The narrow angle lenses are the cause of shadowing. 120's help a ton. Scraping the glass? It's going to happen no matter what.

Ever heard of a tank that didn't have an algae scraper? (please let me know if you do)

I doubt you will have light spill problems.
I'm using the RMS mounts and the bottom of my Radion fixture is 8" from the water.
If you feel the need to get it lower, you can buy 1" -2" bolts that will screw into the fixture and let it hang lower.

This isn't the RMS hanger but it shows you can use longer bolts to attach to the top of the Radion.

Good stuff guys, thanks for all the replies. I hooked it up today and the mount as is seems perfect. WAY less shadowing than my Kessil so I'll just run it as is for now.
