Radion XR15w Pro / Nano Tank Help

I have had a Radion XR15w Pro on my Oceanic BioCube for over a year now and have been having redslime issues since. Doing everything possible to try and rid the redslime from my tank but it just wont quit. I am starting to think is maybe too much light causing my problem. The radion is on the standard mounting arm so it is 8" above the water line. When I first set the Xr15 up I had it on 85% power learning very quickly that was too much light for such a small tank. I am now running the light at 50% and cut all the green and red spectrum out. Does any body have any tips on what I should be running my light at and what spectrum do best to eliminate redslime. BTW the light is running on my Neptune Apex system.

What are your parameters? What flow do you have over your sand bed? What is your photo period? How often are you making water changes?

I have 1 syncra nano
And a rio 2100 as my return pump in my refugium(the tank is drilled)

Lights on at 2:30 and off at 11:30 tank is in a dark room so gets almost no extra light

Water changes every two weeks.




The redslime seems to start in the sand then spread. I suction it all out, well as much as possible when doing water changes.

Nitrates are virtually nothing. Any ideas on this, or a suggested light change?? Here is what my lights are at currently.

I'm 90% sure that you're just over feeding !! And it's not the light causing them problem

I feed once a day! Rods food about a 3/8" piece sometimes mix in eggs. Cover with two drops garlic every other feeding.

Next time feeding just check if any food falls to the sand bed it may be even small pieces some you can't even very well see. Have you tried Redslime remover? Also do you have any critters to clean up left over food ? Crabs snails shrimp ?

Also, is the slime happening in only one spot or everywhere ? Rocks sand etc?

Get a conch or two. they do a great job cleaning up the sand bed. How mamy gallons is your tank? How many fish do you have and what are they? you may need more flow as well. leftover food is most likely settling on the sand bed

Have used 3 different redslime products with no results. Have nassarius snails and a few other snail types aswell with s cleaner shrimp 2 emerald crabs and some blue legs.

Have you used the products every 48 hours ? Sometimes one dose won't help . Also - if there isn't flow in one spot or the flow seems to end off at one spot all the food is settling and creating the slime most likely - from past experience. I would adjust the flow, and should help... Had the same problem when i first got my tank . Also in one of the pictures I see bubble algae growing, are the emerald crabs new ? If there not eating the bubble algae and have had them for a while. That might mean you are over feeding and you just don't know it. I say starve the tank a little.

Tank is a 29 gallon bio cube with a 10 gallon refugium tunze 9002 slimmer. Red slime starts on sand to about halfway up rock. I have a six line wrasse 2 snowflake clowns an a 1.5" purple tang.

I will feed less and get another power head today!!

I have had the emeralds awhile and wondering why they aren't attacking the bubble algae. I just assumed I was feeding adequate but apparently was feeding to much.
