Someone offered me this light at $120. I'm new to the hobby and I just upgraded from a biocube 16 to a 40 gallon. Is this a decent light for the price?

It really depends. Are all the LEDs working correctly? Is the price a huge factor? There are lots of affordable options out there, it just depends on the situation.

Everything works great on the light. I was planning on buying a viparspectra 165w for the same price. This seems like a much better light. I just didnt know if there were any issues with the gen 1.

IMO it is a much better light than the viparspectra. It’s 10 times more adjustable In terms of color spectrum and intensity and it’s programable. As long as it works properly I would go with the old Radion.

At one time it was top of the line, but being a gen 1, I'm guessing it could be 8-10 years old.
Even for a led fixture that's pretty darn old.
I use Radions, but would be hesitant to spend $120 on a light that was $600 new.
I just picked up some gen 4's and might even be tempted to go with gen 3's( for the right price) but not a gen 1.

How much did you pay for the gen 4s?
