I am running three XR30's on a 6' by 30" wide tank thats 21" tall, which way would you hang these lights? longways facing you or short ways facing you? right now i have them longways about a foot above the tank and i dont love the coverage, especially at the front of the tank.

Thanks!

I have a 72 by 30 wide by 24 tall display. I run 4 xr30s front to back in the aquaticlife fixture. I tried them across ("longways facing you") and the coverage wasn't great. I think 30"+ inches and you need to run them this way to get good coverage. A little extra info I run them 12" off the waterline.

What spacing between the fixtures did you end up using?

I have been using 3 xr30’s end to end over my 72 x 27 wide x 24 tall. I just picked up another Xr30 and will be using 4 oriented front to back.

7 1/2" between them. If I remember right the two in the middle may have had to be a little closer.

I’m now thinking of 6 long ways to hit both the back and front in full even if I have to run them at less power. Running in the longways orientation.

If I wasn't running the t5s in the hybrid fixture I might even consider 8 - xr15s. You can space them out a bit more front to back.
