Hey guys,

I just bought a gen 3 radion xr30. I was wondering what was a good smaller light to pair with it? Kinda like on either side of the radion. (Trying to stay on the least costly side).

the radion does have a good coverage of my 40b but I just want a little more.

would I be just fine with the one radion?

open to any suggestions.

right now, my light is a 5’ Pharos led light I love the color, but definitely not the bulky-ness of it.

single Gen2 14 inches above the water on a 40b....think i have it a 60%...havent gotten my hands on a par meter yet but i think it may still be too intense...duncan and florida ric both get bigger after lights out, kinda like they're cringing at the brightness...and they're about 4 inches off the bottom

Once I get the RMS adapter on the 13th I’m going to put it over the tank, but I think I like the coral AB+ preset that I have found. Would you think that is too strong.

also, do you have shading on each end of your tank? That’s one thing I don’t want to have.

yes using the ab+ preset...been over a year since setup so dont really remember the details...i also have a full white pvc hood so i feel a lot of light that would normally be lost with the light that high above the water gets reflected back in...the higher you put it the more spread you get...i want to hook it back to the laptop and play around with the settings but havent gotten around to it...i have it set "too white" and want to go a little bluer

Good to know. I like my tank more on the blue side as well. I feel that too much white promotes algae. And I like the look of corals with more blues on.

Off topic: but do you know where I can get a cord to connect vortech via usb? I have the EcoSmart edition. Just need the cord.

So I got it setup last night and it’s running schedule today. It really seems like a diffuser count be used. Thoughts? The light is very focused on the middle of the tank. Which is where most of my corals are. Just wondering if the diffuser would work to spread out the light a little more.

Reefbrite makes XHO kits for radions. I know they make them for the gen 4 and 5. I bet one of those would work with a little bit of retrofitting for a gen 3. It's basically an LED alternative to T5s. I recently upgraded my XR15 with the one they make for that light. Check my build thread for a pic. It's really kind of sleek on the sides of the Radions. Does well with filling in shadows and my alk and calcium consumption are already up so I can tell they're definitely doing something.

This is what it ended up looking like. Turned whites almost all the way down. And green and red all the way down. Kinda bad pic cause I don’t have lenses.
