I have been having some trouble today with a SPS RTN'ing on me,:tsk:, with so much controversy on LED and spectrums i ask, what sort of measures are you as hobbyists taking to make sure the transition is a smooth one.

Two radions on a 40 breeder is extreme overkill now that I have them in my posession. As a matter of fact they're maxing there intensities out at 20%.

lets hear from you...

I would agree that 2 Radion's is overkill.
Try using just one hung up high and bump intensity up a bit as well. But slowly.

I have reduced my lighting to one radion and asthetically it is the same. I am not seeing dim corners but I need to see how the corals react; I have my eyes open looking for stretching zoas and browning sps.
I am interested to see what these new lenses bring, 42 leds vs 34, hopefully some added colors or even an etirely different scheme!!!

i went from MH to leds no problems, are your water conditions correct

I am far from an sps expert so if you see something I can improve; please.

Parameters are:
Alk 150ppm or 8.5 dkh hanna checker
Calc 440 Elos/API
mag 1350 Elos
nitrate 0 api
Phosphate 0 Api

Maintenance:
6 gallon water change every saturday with D&D salt
Test parameters weekly
alk, mag and calc which have remained stable for around 2 months
empty skimmer three times a week
clean glass about once to twice a week
change skimmer socks every 3-4 days
stir my very shallow sand bed twice a week
change 3tbsp BRS High Capacity GFO in a reactor/ rox carbon passively every two weeks
Dose Kalk 1/2 TBSP per gallon via top off in sealed Home depot bucket

It had crossed my mind that the tank is just to immature at 5 months old. Then, I look around at other tanks, I see other reefers pulling it off.

They are releasing an upgrade? Where did you read this?

To answer the original question I started a transition from PCs to Radions. I started at 20 % intensity and then moved it up slowly. 5% the first couple of weeks, then 10% per week. I am at 85% now on the natural setting and my corals have great color, better than they ever have with MH or PCs.

How high are the lights off the tank? My SPS looked a bit bleached for a bit in the begining but started to likeI much better as I turned up the intensity (slowly). They need the initial acclimation time, and then the slow acclimation time between changes.

I have moved to a single unit roughly fifteen inches above the water line. I might be ordering the rail kit but didn't like all the wires. Over a fora little muchty breeder two hanging kits was

sorry trying to talk to text on my phone doesn't work well all thetime. having two wire kits over 40 breeder just looked a little crowded .

Today after testing my water, like I do every week, some ammonia showed up so I feel pretty confident in saying my issue had nothing to do with the radion. Still not sure where the ammonia would be coming from but hopefully my three year old didn't manage to get something in the tank...
