I am setting up a shallow frag tank and need some help in the led light I put over it. Dimensions of the tank will be 48 x 24 x 6 making the water only about 5" deep.

I was looking at the Radions and seeing how the new Gen 4's have a wider coverage to 36" and such intensity, would I be able to raise the light up higher than normal to cover the 48" since I really don't need to penetrate very far into the water? I was thinking this way since I could use some of the lower light corals around the outer edges and keep the sps to the middle.

Would this work or am I stuck having to buy 2 of these if I go Radions?

I'll be waiting for an answer to your question as well. I too am getting a frag tank set up. Mine is 48x24x12 though so a bit taller. I can't decide on lights

I just set mine up 48x24x12. I went with 2 xr30's and 48" t5. It will primarily be at 18-24" above the tank. @dzones I think if you are going to keep lower light corals 1 fixture would be ok as you stated. It is always hard to figure out which way you want to go took me 6 months. Lol. Good luck.

You'd have to decide on the par you want in the hot spot on the rack for the high light stuff.

I don't believe that light will hit 200 to 300 par at the height you'd need to hang it. Look at the specs again.

Honestly I'd spend less on one or two black boxes or32in one with timers or ramping like sbreeflight light or a reefbreeders . More coverage and more power. Grows corals very well.

Thanks for the input and advice guys. I really appreciate it. I have a few of the black boxes and had originally planned on using those but thought going with such a high quality light like the Radions would be a nicer option but like you said saltyfilmfolks , I don't think it is the best option in this case.
