Hey guys need some advice,
I have a reefer 250 and run two Hydra 26s.
I have them at 50% max peak mid afternoon and get 300-350 par at the water surface.
These are good lights but noticed some corals just aren't at their full color potential, specifically Sps.
Im looking for that color, “POP.” The hydras just don't achieve that. Dont get me wrong growth and color are ok and the tank looks beautiful but again I want to unlock the tanks full potential.
Some corals have even morphed to less appealing colors than what they originally were.
Now assuming water chemistry is in check which I strongly feel it is, I want to focus this on lighting only.

I’ve been considering upgrading to Radions specifically running two G4 XR15s
The XR30 I feel would be overkill for the tank size, Im aware they are more powerful but are also more expensive and a tad too big foe the tank.
Would really like to hear what you guys that have the Radions think.

I know they are good and solid lights but, I really want to hear about dramatic changes in coloration and growth, what percentages you guys run.
I’d especially like to hear from those who switched from hydras to radions including their approach to introducing the radions to avoid shocking the system.

If im convinced the lights are worth the investment I will begin working on getting a hold of them.

Why not use the AB+ setting on max 100% specifically for the AI Hydra 26 HD and see if you like it. Getting 2 X15r will be close to $1200 with tax and everything. Plus Ecotech may come out with the Gen 5 Radions soon so wait a bit. In the mean time mess around with the AI and see if you see improvement.

I use 2xhydra 52HD on my display along with T5 and 1 Radion xr30 pro G4 on my frag tank..
The spread on Radions suck and the ecosmartlive is painful to use.. BUT the corals look way better under the radions..

What up man,
Haven't messed with the AB+ setting, ill look into that.
Although, my PAR is pretty high up there as it is at only 50% and would hate to bleach or stress coral ramping everything to 100%

As far as expenses, I have 4 total hydra 26s in great shape.
Two in use, two as spares. After selling them that would recover the major cost for the switch to Radions.
