Hello folks,
I currently have a 100 gallon tank that is 4’x2’x2..I have ai lights from the get go and they are fine..

im really thinking hard at get some radion x15’s…how many would I need for my tank?

I'm thinking 3x XR15s or 2x XR30s would probably work nicely for you.

They're still very nice lights for soft and LPS.

I’m going to go against the grain here and say two should be all you need. My tank is basically yours cut in half (50 gal 2x2x2) and I’ve done well with just one xr15 for a couple of years. I added XHOs to cut down on shading but with two radions on your size tank, that should eliminate most of it. They are powerful lights. I’ve never had to turn mine up past 65%.

I have a 4’x2’x2’ tank with three XR15 Pro. I started with two and added the third so have some direct experience.

I switched focused to SPS and if I had it to do over again, I would start with two XR30. That way I have one less RMS to buy and 25% more diodes. Plus when I move to a bigger tank, adding a third XR30 is more palpable than at least two more XR15. YMMV

I run at 100% schedule intensity with a more white light than the AB+ schedule (cool white is at 70%). This yields a very even light with ~275 PAR on average. Any shading is the result of self-imposed aquascape issues.

I have 2 XR15 on my tank which is 36" wide. You would need 3 on yours which gives you better coverage than 2 XR30s. BRS did a video on this specifically with radion lights.

If your tank is 4x2x2, that should be 120g. I have a tank that size, and I run 4 XR15 Pros over my mixed reef.

Do you have a brace in the middle? If so, 3 won't work. You'll need 4 at that point. I'd get 2 XR30s instead especially with the sale going on.

I ran 2 XR15s on my 120 and it wasn't enough for SPS.
