Any one have exp with phoneix 250 watt mogual bulbs??? I'm trying to decide which bulb I want to run.... Currently I run xm20k but it's almost time to change..
I will be runnning them with m80 pfo ballast which is the bomb for radiums...

i run phoenix if that means anything.. those are both great bulbs.. its like choosing a Ferrari or a LAmbo.. same thing just prefereance.

I didn't use radiums long enough to notice growth. But I like the color on the Phoenix better. Or maybe cause I'm a frugal cheap guy and like it better cause they are cheaper . :-)

Ahmen.... It's 2 for 1 almost.... Lol
thanks for your time mike.... I think it's really cool that sponsers over here actually swing by threads and help out.... Never saw that on any other site....;)
so you use the single ended "mogual" phoneix bulbs huh.....

i have had the same radium bulbs in my tank for a year an a half now....im running a blue wave 7 for the ballast. some funky colors come out of the corals some times with radiums!

I love my radiums when i ran them never tried phoniex though. as you know i ran mine on a lumatex ballast great par and growth with color. now I am running 12k i forgot which ones just for growth once mini colonies are established I will switch back to 20ks more then likely radiums also. but wil run 400watts on galaxy ballast.

use 400 watt radiums at the wholsaler i work for.....colors up the coral and great growth!! would recoment all day long!!!!!!!

I know there both great bulbs but I hear phoneix are par beasts... I cAn pull colors well with all the bulbs I have tried, so I'm not worried there flow and water chemistry is right on the money just looking to boost the growth.... Xms have some of the worst par out there...:( lol but at the time it was the only bulbs I could fire on my old ballast... I'll prolly just go with radium and see what happens since I have the ballast designed to run them at the correct power rating...

i use xm on my personal tank at home....they are not that bad....really like the coloration

i run radiums before and im running phoenix 250w now...i notice that my zoas/palys grow and look better with phoenix though i also love radiums when it comes to bringing out colors on lps...both are nice though i love zoas/palys and they love phoenix:)

I lie the Radiums over the phoenix bulbs. If DE is your only option then yes the phoenix bulb has the best color in my opinion. Be for se moguls the Radiums is the winner for me hands down. Great par and color. I have some par test of a buddies 90g with 2 250 radiums. crazy pay for acros. I ran both bulbs and prefer the radiums as well.

arent these bulbs 2 completely different bulbs, meaning one is 20k an the other 14k?
i would assume that the phoenix would have better growth but ive never used a radium so i cant say first hand
i know i had great growth on lps and softies from my 250w phoenix de
awesome growth with monties, never tried acros so i cant give first hand experience there
but i also dont know how much of a difference there is between de and the se bulbs

I run them side by side in one of my frag tanks and the difference is minimal when new. They are a Phoenix DE 250 and a Radium mogul 250,each ran on a ARO electronic ballast. As the bulbs age the Radium looks better(at like 6 months) and the Radiums look good for about a year where as the DE phoenix poops out at 6 or 8 months.I havent tried the phoenix moguls yet but I have heard they do not pack the punch of the DE

Thanks for the heads up.... I hear and seen/read rave reviews over phoneix de bulbs but never heard much or seen anyone using the mogual or single ended phoneix bulbs.... I guess I will be radium powered!!!!!! 1smile1

I've been using DE Phoenix bulb and the color is nice and the growth is even better. I hear lots of people uses the Radium for SE bulb and get great results.

I switched from having a dual 400w pfo ballast using 20k xm to the dimmable 400w galaxy ballast using radiums and man in the short time I have noticed a difference in growth and color. I am now offically a fan of the radiums.
