Hey guys and gals of the salty persuasion pulled the trigger on rescape since were fallow and running COWLR ;)
Moved LTA to right side front of overflow box with the Xenia rock. Center tank has curved rock like a lagoon to feature a zoa rock in center front. Right side is a slope up for sticks and gorges on its back side.
Waiting for dust to settle and ensure nem stays in cradle I built him.
Swapped dome sump rock out may add if this doesn’t grow on me.
Thoughts ideas give a shout here’s what it looks like thru the haze

Still have the wrasse in there so it’s all good. As soon as I get some pods in he’s going on vacation to Rich’s 29 till I can drop him in copper free qt tank with a good source

Good Morning salty friends, Order from Cultivated reef came in :)
They sent oxides, whammin watermellon, Tealamonster, extra lrg Sunny D, Nirvana, and King Midas. Didn’t see Tealamonster on their site not sure what that one will look like opened but excited to see. Packaging excellent and they did awesome with my requested colors going to be sweet opened up. Pics when they get happy

Weeeelllll alrighty then! Very happy with the order from @Cultivated Reef Holly picked out some stunners and really came thru with the colors I was looking for :D All open fully except one lazy guy who is half or better in very short order. Pics sold ok some eh... lights were coming down and couldn’t filter proper on close to glass ones, that and my zoom isn’t up to snuff forvthe littlest polyps.

On the RL side good news from orth and cancer docs they don’t think the mark is bone cancer did blood tests yo confirm and still getting a bone scan but weights of the mind and feeling awesome
Great news my friend. Doc visits can be nerve racking.

The zoas and palys look awesome too! CR is a rock solid local coral spot. Cant wait for the cowlr fts :)

Brother I’m sorry to read about the losses? Someone else I know lost all his fish because of coral. So hard to keep things out of the tank.

Now let’s get more positive. The rescape looks great. It adds more depth to the tank

Hello all, I've been out of circulation since underground filters were the way it was done. I've been catching up on the 1 or 2 changes ( lol holy moly a lot more than 1 or 2 things to catch up on) since last I was in the hobby for about a year. A lot of books, websites, and if course lurking here gave me the confidence to jump back in.

So far not much to share or show except a newly cleaned tank and sump. I've picked up what was missing from this Craigslist find but still found I needed a new plumbing kit ( just ordered online) as local stores didn't have what I needed to complete last bulkhead connections.

Rocks are getting a first soaking and once last items arrive mid next week will aquascape and start the cycle going. Looking forward to documenting this tank and sharing its progress with everyone.

Hey I have just read that after a period of time you returned to the hobby and have listed some of the errors, I have just started this hobby and my tank has been running for 4 months now however my magnificent foxface is a poorly boy, he has white spots on the black bit of his body and black spots on the white of his body, i have treated him for whitespot but he is eating perfectly fine and swimming around just fine too, have you ever had a problem with your foxface...also why was handfeeding your foxface a mistake, just curious? I have never hand fed mine lol im scared of getting spiked

Thanks for swinging by and checking the thread. As for the foxface and disease have dealt with white spots only from the speed of disease velvet is the prime suspect. I never felt hand feeding foxface as a mistake but care needs to be taken to not get near the spines that will be quite painful. In video I had my hand deeper in water rather than keeping food near surface for a safer angle to avoid his spikes.
I get a kick out of the trust built up with CBB and Foxface to hand feed I just keep it nearer surface .

As for your Fox did you treat in a separate tank? Ich/ velvet drop off and can stay dormant and pop back up on ya hence I’m running fallow to ensure they are dead. Also what treatment did you use? Some reef safe can buy you time but copper is only sure way to cure em.
Not sure about the black spots if you can get pics and post in disease forum hopefully can get an I’d and see if it’s something bacterial that needs attention
Congrats on 4 months it’s a challenging hobby but R2R is a great source to avoid mistakes and find answers to getting back on track when needed

You're welcome I came across your thread and thought it would be worth shooting a message to you, so my foxface does have the white spots but his behaviour is normal which is what makes it all the more baffling if i'm honest and oh right now I understand lol yes i can imagine they deliver quite a sting lol and have you had them since they were very tiny?

Now here is the thing I did have a QT set up but i had treated the water with copper for the last batch that was in, however we have no skimmer or anything on that tank and the tank itself is very tiny, do you have a QT if so what is your set up? I shall try snap a picture of him but my tank is so cloudy right now im struggling to get a proper picture of him but this is not the first time it has struck my tank which is disheartening.

I only discovered this community by accident yesterday but it seems to have a lot of helpful members and people who have a real understanding of the hobby which is what I need right now. Thank you for your help!

Did you lose your tank ?

Did you lose your tank ?
Didn’t lose it...still know where it is :p Introduced cpl new corals from a place I shouldn’t have dipped them bug no qt and week or so later velvet took my tangs and CBB I took out possum wrasse and it seems the mandarin removing rocks to get fish out to treatment.
Remaking stock us thru copper. Rescape since a had the chance running COWLR (coral only with live rock) till disease is gone.
Was a gut shot had all the fish I wanted but will carry on. Just don’t know if I’ll ever get a CBB like that one again or if I want to try

Oh no and you were building up to all desired stock. For CBB- salgado aquatics is your place. . . . quarantined and eating when you receive it.

Thank you ever so much for your advice and I have posted my poorly foxface on the disease thread and tagged the reef squad as you suggested!

Just don’t know if I’ll ever get a CBB like that one again or if I want to try

I feel for you re the cbb, when I set the trap overnight to catch a lemon peel out I forgot the cbb was in the cube as well, Lemon peel always disliked it, found the cbb the next morning torn up and on top of the macro, semi dry, I am also wary of trying again.
