So glad to hear! Hopefully the second goes well too!
Thanks! It’s nice living in s full hd colorful world again! Operation was so cool (I’m a geek talked with doc each step) Felt like robo cop when new lens uncoiled in my eye swear part looked like mesh screen just like Robocop getting targeting grid screwed in! I kind dated myself lol.

Thanks. You nailed it Healthy is the name of the game. Took 2.5 years to see it settle in. I’m to much the fiddler but back cured me of that lol. Going forward will remember what balanced the tank wasn’t me was tank itself

Sometimes the best thing is hands off, I look at what what happened with the clown I lost. I lost it because I was too hands on with him and not hands on enough with the other. It's all about balance and like you said, letting the tank take care of itself.

So started thinking how can I really tick my wife off..........snap of the fingers lightbulb moment! Cut holes in living room floor! I know evil genius but I need a cover story going to go with the I have a bad back and need basement sump room,

initial thoughts

need to deep clean basement repaint floors walls add drop ceiling and add more electrical in chosen area.

what do I want?
ease of access for cleaning, water changes, testing area, qt area more water volume.

initial thoughts
2 Rubbermaid 100 gal containers top container drilled for 60 gals
top container mechanical filter Cheeto in large hamster ball eggcrate separator before drain too bottom container
bottom container rocks and then some more rocks possible algae curtain?
skimmer most likely top container on shelf
will add power head to skimmer tote to keep stuff suspended will also have a secondary emergency drain possible leak detector in pipe to alarm apex if it gets used

cryptic zone tank blacked out 20 gallon
Still reading and searching and planning may need more volume if things work out cash wise to get a slightly bigger tank down the road. Checking 60x24x24 and 72x24x24. First priority will be basement sump and that may turn into full blown revamp and kill a new tank for now.
any thought on basement sump dreams shout out. bright lighting task lighting ventilation are on the list as well as outside airline and perhaps air stone or two

Sounds like a fun project, basement sumps are totally worth the effort.

bigger tank? basement sump? Lots of envy here! :)

I was a fat man in a candy store on everything’s free day! Got a chance to talk about a dream tank. @Joe Glass Cages was kind enough to talk me thru options available. The stuff they have available now and in the works very cool indeed. If your looking for a tank give em s shout the website is getting revamped and doesn’t at present showcase what they can do.
So lots to mull over going To the basement with a dream tank totaly Spaced on needing 4 functioning drains on the coast to coast to ensure I’m pulling water across entire length of tank.
Big thanks to Joe for spending over s half hour sharing pics and explaining option and putting up with my twisted self.
I may have to go back to being a male escort to get all the bells and whistles as I do a checklist more things add up like new RODI system with bigger output. 180 display and another 120 sump...... R2R what did you do to me lol

My Itty-bitty sump room ended up costing somewhere in the range of $3000 CAD. When you factor in plumbing, electrical, insulation, in wall conduit, plywood, drywall sub-floor and so on it adds up fast. And that was doing all the work myself.

Itty bitty? I think your sump room may be bigger than your new expected child’s room! :p

Boys and girls friends and neighbors, been asking gif quotes on a 150 and 180 tank to get a feel how much it will hurt and how many escort jobs I’m going to have to do.

From MD's website, looks like according to this, you'll be at 2-3klph at full power. 3000L is about 790 gal

Capture.PNG

I'm pushing only about 500 gph with my 3170 eFlux. It's not a full speed though.

@Fudsey thanks for waking my brain up there! Man flow chart head height blah looks like a reeflo barracuda or barracuda hammerhead hybrid is needed to get flo rates. And I will need s back up as well........if anyone is looking for me will find me on a street corner downtown

What kinda of flow you looking for? because at 3.5 klph your talking 925 gph and that is 5x turn over for a 180 and 4k is 1050 gph. I wouldn't push more than that through your sump. Flow can come from other in tank pumps as well...
