Ahh another question, left a 5 gallon bucket of rodi water, looks like it was windy and some rain drizzle probably ended up in there as well. Was drying the filter socks and it rained, should I machine wash them again in bleach or just a hot rinse in the washing machine?

Since you are essentially filtering poo mixtures with them, I can’t see why you would need to worry about rain water. Was drying the filter socks and it rained, should I machine wash them again in bleach or just a hot rinse in the washing machine?
If you are going to lose sleep worrying about rain water contaminating your system, don’t use it, otherwise, use It.Ahh another question, left a 5 gallon bucket of rodi water, looks like it was windy and some rain drizzle probably ended up in there as well.
do you think I’m gonna have to make a new bucket of rodi? I can’t test it for sure because it has some salt residue in the water already.
Alright thanks for the tip on the bleach new to saltwater and just assumed your supposed to because a site said so.My personal opinion, do not bleach your filter socks.
I wash mine in a hot water wash with no detergent and no bleach. They may not come out as pure white as new, but I know that I am not introducing unwanted chemicals of any kind to my system.
As for the water bucket... it should be fine... If it is truly a concern, I am of the opinion that an ounce of prevention beats a pound of cure.
I would just use them... it isn't like your washing machine washes with RODI or such.
Also bleach evaporates so as long as socks are bone dry that is not a concern either. People be paranoid.
The concern does not come from the bleach itself. I have read many posts and articles regarding "Splashless" bleach that leaves a residue that causes foaming in systems where it has been used.
I have ONLY read this information, never personally tested it myself. In keeping with the prevention beats cure theory, I just wash them in plain hot water.
Ya, a person needs to buy just plain bleach. Not splashless or scented, etc.
Or, better yet, save money and just use plain hot water! lol
