So Im sitting at work just thinking about my fish tank and watching it rain outside n saying how I don't want to be here right now lol. Being in Florida we get a large amount of rain. Was thinking could one use rain water for top.off water instead of Ro/Di water?? Any negative effect that be caused from it??

It would need to be processed before going into your tank. There a lot of pollutants in rain as it falls it works a natural filter and cleans the air but also carries many things with it as it falls. You could catch it in a drum and if you have a PSI pump for your rodi you could use it and not your city or well water but straight from the cloud to the bucket to your tank i would believe over time you'll have issues.

One of the problems with living in florida. At least we don't get snow. Lol. As far as using rain water as top off water I wouldn't. Think about all the stuff that gets evaporated off the roads and roofs around here. You wouldn't want to put that in your tank.

I wouldn't. an rodi unit is inexpensive when you consider how much you have wrapped up in a reef. I wouldn't use any water that I couldn't control what was in it as much as possible. if you collected it in a rain barrel for example, as it runs over the roof, it can collect all sorts of contamination. if you collect it as it falls rain water still carries stuff that has evaporated into the clouds as they were formed. too much unknown there. stick with what works.
