My BTA split and had about 2-3 inches between each other. It has split again in between both making them all close together. Will they cause harm to each other being so close? Also I have 5 gallons of salt water, and I need 10. Can I make 5 gallons from a different brand salt and combine them?

No, they will not harm one another. Combining the salt mix shouldnt be a problem either.
