Hi everyone! Decided to try my hand with Bubble Tip Anemone's. We got an AI Prime 16HD Light, Perfect water levels, etc. (Had our LFS set it up).
We just acclimated this Anemone about 30-45 minutes ago and I am just curious what is it doing? Do they shrivel up in a new environment I take it? Just wondering.

Thanks for the help in advance!

Sounds good! Anemones are my favorite lol , start a build thread that way you can track progress and have others help you along the way

good help already, the LFS shouldnt have probably started you out directly with an anemone unless by chance did they also give you fully established live rock? I mean full of growth and coraline algae? sometimes live rock tubs are stocked so often they arent necessarily cycled

or did they start you with dry rock and bottled bacteria? Just trying to help as best i can so the info is good to have. Did they set you up with some rodi water on the side as well or an rodi filter?

I also want to test this LFS of yours to make sure you got a good one that wants to help get you started right, with reliable products and not pushing trash products, its sad but i see this all the time on here and people end up spending way more money in the end to get the right stuff. Not to say this has happened but just want to make sure

We had dry live rock and then it turned to the purple (live bacteria). We had the tank and rock for about 2 months before we added fish. Now it's pretty purple.

Hi @WorldZY

Is he kind of just sitting on the sandbed? They can certainly reach down with their foot and attach to the bottom glass through the sand but they will definitely want to take hold of rock work. They like to put their foot in crevices usually.

It is a stressful time when they're first added, and I like to start them out by putting them somewhere I think they'll like. At least to start with. They don't like to be hit with direct flow but like to reach "into it". But just set them down someplace safe in the rocks and if you pick a good spot, they may just stay there. Mine never really move after first putting them in.

Also consider that he could get large, and could create a very large space of problems with keeping any other types of corals.

Ok. So I can move the anemone? I was told set them on the sand bed and let it take a lap around. I have plenty of rock to place it on!

Thank you! I'm really excited to get into anemones! I want to make sure this one is a Success before branching out into others.
They love stability and in my experience , nitrate at least 10ppm and phosphate .08-.2ppm

ok good, it is still a bit immature and a new anemone so i would set the lighting on acclimation mode if they havent already. Next i would buy established live rock from a trusted reefer on this forum (best option) or 2 buying the pns pro bio and yellow sno combo. If you have low phosphates the pns substrate sauce works well to both dose phosphate and bacteria to speed maturation of the tank. A mature tank is necessary for a thriving anemone

Perfect! Can I grab it with my hand and move it? I don't want to do something wrong LOL!!!

also did they give you a nitrate phosphate, calcium, alkalinity test kits and a refractometer with calibration solution?

dont touch it, it will do more harm then good right now. if it is floating turn off all powerheads so it doesnt get injured

nem guards on wavemakers/powerheads also help with new anemones
