I have had a frag of this for around two months and I haven't found it's happy spot yet. Can someone tell me where they like to be in a tank, flow, etc?

I've got all my montis in middle and moderate flow. Grow like weeds! However I've had color issues with superman, poker star, and rainbow as far as base color being navy blue:( all my montis grow like a herpe but for some reason only these 3 navy out on me but polyps EVERYWHERE. So I'm piggy backing on this thread hoping for advice also.

I have five or more other montis that are growing super fast and very colorful. My rainbow is purple, very little PE....just purple. I have it close to dead center of the tank with pretty high flow. I just moved it today and also got a spurinula (sp) worm off of it that may have been irritating it. Pappy, I had Superman and Pokerstar too...killed them both. I hope a monti pro chimes in!

I have a rainbow monti myself. It is growing very fast. From my experience it likes low light and low flow. I had it in high light and high flow and it did not grow at all, also faded. I moved it to the bottom of the tank in low light, low flow. It took off and grows very fast. Superb colors, definitely a rainbow coloration of polyps. The rim is a light blue. I will post pics tomorrow.

Long story short, my experience:

Low Light. Low Flow.

Would love to see a pic! Thanks.

Pappy, I moved mine to lower light and lower flow this morning. I just looked at it and all its polyps are out. I may very well have had mine in too much flow. I'll keep posting though. Where do you have yours?

Mine are middle of tank but high flow I shall move...thx I've got polyps but the base just doesn't have that bright blue.:( my superman is the same. All I can see is red and barely a navy blue base but polyps galore.

Here are the pics of my rainbow monti. You can barely see the blue rim but it is more apparent in person. The human eye can do a lot more than a good camera.

From the look of the close up shots it looks more like they're bleaching off. That's no blue rim bud, what's your light setup?

I can assure you that it is growing, definitely not bleaching or receding. I will take another picture in 2 days to see its growth.

My lights are Radion Pros. I prefer my tank lights to show white coloration without much actinic blue during the peak time. The lights are also very bright and taking pictures is difficult. The blue rim is very apparent when you look at it in person.

Yeah, I had to magnify the pics to actually see the color. At first sight it just looked like an orange with white rim monti.

I had mine in low light/low to medium flow and same here..base went very dull..moved it up to a bit more flow and more light..polyp color and extension is better but the base is still much lighter than it was when i brought it home..excellent growth here as well
