Rainbow Montipora STN?

So this is a week ago and today. Is it STN? I will give exact parameters later but last night alk was 8.4. I was having Alk issues the last couple weeks and most likely this was caused by a big alk swing a couple weeks ago.

Question: what is the treatment if there is any? Should I just dip it and frag off the necrosis? Open to all input.

I find that if there is an identifiable cause due to water parameters, the best thing to do is nothing.

If I stop dosing and just leave my water alone these things tend to heal on their own usually.

I wouldn’t do a thing. You literally cannot kill one of those. My rainbow is over growing living Acroporas and doesn’t lose a battle to anything. Be careful where you mount them. They are cool looking but can become invasive.

Closest thing is a rainbow monti, which is like 3 inches away. Nothing else within 8 inches, and nothing that would sting

I was thinking this could be a possibility. I have a sunset monti 2 inches away and a beach bum monti 6 inches away on a different layer of rock. Would I expect to see these having effects of the nudis if this was the case?

Couldn't agree with this more, encrusting montipora are a pain in the butt.
