Hey folks,

Heres the short and sweet. I noticed my Open Brain expelling brown matter, which I suspect is POO because I fed it last night. My concern is right after it released the poo I witnessed the other mouth blow out a cloud of white stuff. I've seen my plate coral do the same thing. I'm hoping that its just spermies, but I've read that if they're stressed they'll release they're guts. It WAS NOT "stringy", much more of a quick "puff". It was contracted while it was pooping and then the white stuff. After that it returned to its original size and inflated. It hasn't lost any coloration, etc. It's only been in my tank for 4 days. Any thoughts? all params are good.

Thanks.

No reason to stress bud, it is poop. If your water is stable, meaning its all in check, I wouldn't worry at all. I have many brains and if I feed them, the next day and after they are puffing stuff out all day. I wouldn't though feed it more than twice per week though. Some people think those corals should be powerfed, forgetting they only have one hole where food comes in and out of...they only really digest the first portions of food that falls in the digestive chamber, and whatever else that mounts over is expelled without being digested at all... I've heard that some corals might if stressed expelled some of their insides, not sure why, but I would say it is only under lots of stress...a good way to know your coral is doing ok is if it accepts food. In your case, it is ok since you fed it...
Post some pics if you can, we love to see rainbow brains...I have one and love it
