I would start off with a more basic question...given the number of comments and reactions on your profile..i may be (falsely) assuming that you are relatively new to the reefing hobby? As someone who has lost a small fortune chasing georgeous sps with little background..i would say that if you have been successful at keeping sps..go for it. If you still are a crap shoot on will a new purchase live or die...I would wait.

all for you to decide. to be honest with you, I think there's a lot of ugly, overpriced, fish and coral out there... but with that being said there's some killer deals too. I justify my purchases by saying they're investments that I can grow and frag lol

I my opinion it boils down to what you think. You'll be the one caring for the splice, and more than likely seeing it seeing it every day. If you have done the research to keep the coral alive and growing, then that is that. More than likely you probably already are keeping SPS alive and growing, so you should have a good place for it. Next is price are you willing to pay that much, and it die in less than a year? If the above it true, this shouldn't happen unless some freak accident goes down. IMO many corals are overpriced because of the name in this hobby. (Like Torches) So you could wait for a deal/pricing to drop.

So basically, do YOU think it's worth it.
Hope this help a little!

Something's worth is and always will be a personal decision based on your own desires and disposable income.

If you can keep the coral thriving and growing, buying high price coral is like a high risk investment. You can loose it all, or recoup your investment and more at local and regional frag meets, or selling on line. If you have to ask, I don't thing you are an "expert reefer" and should not plan on selling frags anytime soon.
Go for the less (much less expensive) SPS first and not empty your bank account on a high price one that possibly going into the trash (or calcium reactor) in the near future. Once you have more experiences under your belt, and able to keep nice SPS growing, you can sell these to make more room in your tank, then you can think about high price coral.
Successful reefers, always short of space in their tank.

I tend to shy away from corals that are sold less than a inch big, and when you don't find many colony pictures of them, makes you think.

No................ I wouldn't buy unless I could get a separate red and green branch at full color for each. I would grow each branch alone and then do my own splicing to create the colony for my display.

You can be creative and cut a branch of each in half and glue the halves together to get that cool blend.

I never really gave that any thought. That's a great idea I might have to try that

To me, no. Get a nice pink or rainbow Millie frag that’s twice the size and 1/10 the price unless you’re a collector acroholic that absolutely has to have this specific color variant of millepora.

I think its worth it if you get the right piece.
I have had my piece for 3 months, here is the growth progression so far.
It must really like the spot I put it in the frag tank, I'm not planning to move it anytime soon.
