I wasn't aware of anything eating Cyano, but I saw my Goby eating some yesterday. I have some small patches of Cyano in my tank. Yesterday I was blowing off some of the Cyano with a eyedropper and out of the corner of my eye I thought I saw the Rainford eat some. I sucked some Cyano into the eyedropper and squirted some toward my Rainford and sure enough he ate it. He won't eat the Cyano if it's covering something but will if it's floating in the water column.

Pretty cool tidbit. Also a very pretty fish... albeit tiny.

That's so cool! I just placed an order for a captive bred rainford goby to help keep things clean.

Is your captive bred too, and does it sift some sand as well?

I'm not sure if it's captive bred. That's all it does is sift sand all day long. The good thing about the Rainford is when it's sifting it doesn't swim into the water column like some other sifters so the sand doesn't blow around and make a mess, it stays close to the sand when sifting. The worst it gets is a little sprinkling of sand on some corals but no mounds. When it's not sifting the sand it's eating algae film off the rocks and glass. The Rainford and my 2 conch snails keep my sand clean.

Awesome! That's exactly what i'm looking for!

I was looking for a sifter at the lfs I go to and they had just got them in so I pulled the trigger. I don't like to do it without research but this was an impulse buy that worked out for the best, the Rainford is an awesome fish.

I'm glad it worked out for you! post a video of the goby some time!

Another little goby that eats Cyano is the twin-spot goby, and they are just fine in pairs.
