Raising a Vertex Omega

Hey all. I got a vertex omega 150 for my tank. Problem is that the water height in the sump is 12” so I need to raise it 4-5 inches.
I’d rather not modify the skimmer plate as some have done. Additionally I have to raise the pump as well. Most of the diy options seem to be internal skimmers.

Should I just use some egg crate or is there some other diy skimmer stands out there.

Zip tie eggcrate together.
I have all my skimmers on eggcrate of varying height.

I always feel eggcrate is so unstable. Maybe I need more zip ties.

You can make the base larger and buildup on it.
I had one on 5 pieces for 3 years with no issues.
Also just stack it and zip tie it.
Dont try and make a box.

I made a little stand for mine out of egg crate, pvc and zip ties. Works great

If you're concerned about stability over the long run, just make one out of egg crate for now.
Once you're happy with the running height make a 3-sided stand out of 1/4" acrylic
